MusicMakers Academy
Music, Drama, Arts Camps

Summer
Winter
Spring

What are the Music, Drama, Arts Camps?
During Camp we explore activities and concepts in music and drama, culminating in a performance at the end of the camp session.

Our campers enjoy lots of hands-on activities such as making their own musical instruments, having fun with arts and crafts, and playing theater and music games.

If the weather permits, we like to go out and play under the sprinklers, or take our lunch outside for fresh air, too!

Enrollment is limited to 15 children per session. Normally, our camps may have as few as 5 and not usually more than 12, except on our more popular weeks.

NEW! This year we are offering TRIPLE THREAT SEMINAR (Click Here) for kids who are looking for something more intensive, and more serious for singing, dancing, and acting.

When Are the Camps Offered?
These popular workshops are held during the Winter, Spring and Summer school vacation weeks. They are held Mondays-Fridays, except where indicated.

We will perform what we've learned in a show on Friday!

Session 5-- Aug 3-7:
Piano Camp Beginners (ages 5-10); HALF DAY 9am-12:30pm

Do you want to learn piano, or are you in your first few years of study? The Piano Camp Beginners if for you! Pianists rarely get to work in an ensemble, and yet ensemble playing gives young musicians the chance to improve their tempo, technique, and note reading. And, it's a whole lot of fun to start to learn piano with the help of some friends around you! If you're thinking about taking private piano lessons, this is also a great way to start!

Keyboard Ensemble Intensive (Ages 10-14); HALF DAY 1:30pm-4pm
If you have already been playing piano for at least 2 years, and want to experience a higher level of piano playing, join our Keyboard Intensive. You most likely have played piano within an ensemble, and here's your chance! Featuring songs you are most likely familiar with and love, we will learn how to play popular music and classics on the keyboards, as well as the pianos, to make a feel of a complete band!

Session 6-- Aug 10-14:
Strings Camp Beginners (ages 5-10); HALF DAY 9am-12:30pm

Strings Camp Beginners is a great place to learn to play a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass), or to improve on your skills if you are in your first 2 years of playing. Through ensemble music written specifically for beginners, we will explore concepts such as beat, rhythm, strings technique, posture, and good tone/intonation. If you have not yet learned to play your instrument, this is a great way to start, as you'll get to practice every day in a fun setting to see if you enjoy the instrument! If you are in your first few years of learning your instrument, you will have fun learning to play in conjunction with other peers at your level!

Strings Ensemble Intensive (ages 10-14); HALF DAY 1:30pm-4pm
The Strings Intensive is exactly that--for students who have studied their string instrument for at least 2 years, you will explore your instrument further while practicing in an ensemble setting every day for the entire week. This is a great way to get back into shape for your school orchestra! We will play chamber music written for your level, and explore how the string family of instruments work together in quartets, trios, and duets as well as larger ensembles. There will be time for solo playing, as well!

Session 7-- Aug 17-21:
Webkinz (ages 5-11); HALF DAY 9am-12:30pm

We all LOVE Webkinz, those cute and cuddly friends who you can play with online and off! Bring your webkinz with you, as they will join you in our performance as the animals and characters for our Friday show! Throughout the week we will play Webkinz games, learn music with animal themes, build instruments, write music, and do arts and crafts for our Webkinz.

Twilight (ages 10-14); HALF DAY 1:30pm-4pm
Did you love Twilight? The popular book and movie will be brought to life at MusicMakers this summer. Music is filled with songs about love, mythical creatures, and fantasy life; we will explore such music as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Secret Garden, Wicked, Cats, Once Upon a Mattress, Jekyll and Hyde, Toy Story, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and many more! We will explore the theme of "love" in music, which is prevalent in every time period and in every genre. Perform Twilight scenes, learn acting skills, learn how to move as an ensemble, and there may be time for a solo or two for our Friday performance!
